Corm .1.5-2.5 × 0.7-2 cm, oblong to ovoid; tunics membranous, pale yellowish-brown to reddish-brown, neck lacking or very short. Leaves 3 (-4), synanthous, erecto-patent at anthesis, linear to lanceolate-linear, channelled, 20-60 (-80) × 3-8 (-16) mm (later up to 200 × 19 mm), usually with scabrid margins, often rather thick, dull green to deep green, apex and margins frequently crimson-purplish. Flowers 1-3 (-7); perianth tube entire, 6.5-14 (-18) cm, exceeding the cataphyll by 1.5-5 (-6) cm, cream (to white), often flushed purplish in upper part; limb usually campanulate to globular-campanulate; segments (17-) 21-29 (-31) × ( 4-) 5-9 (- 10) mm. oblong-oblanceolate to obovate, very pale lilac-pink to purplish-pink, flushed purple outside towards the base; lamellae present at base of at least inner segments, frequently auricled. Outer stamens 8-10 (-11) mm, inner 10-12 (-14) mm; filaments cream, swollen base deep yellow to orange-yellow; anthers (2-) 2.5-3.5 mm, dark grey to purplish-black; pollen yellow to orange-yellow, rarely greyish-yellow. Styles ± equalling stamens; stigmas punctiform. Capsules subterranean or only partly exposed, 1.5-2.5 x 0.8-1.5 cm, oblong to ovoid, rounded at apex, spongy, non-chlorophyllous; seeds few (up to 6-8 per locule), c. (3.5-) 4-5 mm diam., brownish-yellow to reddish-brown, raphe region a narrow keel, scarcely swollen.
